Going on the mission trip, I saw that the Taiwan team there was really different than a lot of people than even my friends at school, that even though most were 5 or more years older than me and spoke Chinese much better than me, they still made me feel like I was part of one very large, very kind family. Even after I left, I felt like I had been close to these friends and partners, and I kind of missed the feeling of having that close of a community working together every day. That really gave witness in my vision of what God does in lives.
Working there, I really did feel like God truly wanted it done, the people there were very ready to receive Christ, the Gospel was very welcome, very welcome in the families and hearts of the kids. One of the families that we visited, it was the grandparents who had to watch over their kids because their parents could not be around to support them all the time, and yet those kids were filled with joy, not sadness and were enthusiastic enough to want to hear about God in class.
One of the children we visited, James, lived deep in the countryside of the village, among the temples and fields, so far from the school we took an hour to walk there, and yet he was enthusiastic enough to share the gospel songs we learned to his parents. I really felt as if the people we met were humble, to the point where I felt bad for not being that nice.
Even just staying in the village really helped get in touch with God, the work we did felt like it did have meaning and accomplishment, to where we could really feel the joy of sharing with others and relaxing at the end of the day.
